Riveting is a process in which two metallic structures are connected permanently with the help of a rivet tool. In recent times, the riveting process is being replaced by welding. The extensive use of this process is because the connection formed as a result is durable and tight; besides, the metallic parts that cannot be welded can be connected using riveting. Before the advancement in riveting technology, people used to carry it out manually. The process involved drilling holes in both surfaces, which are to be connected. After this, a rivet is inserted into the holes. The cue was to look out for a mandrel that should protrude from the other side of the hole. Now the joint is hammered to strengthen the connection. When the rivet unravels, it is a cue that the joint is established.
Industries use rivet tools to speed up the manufacturing process. There are various types of rivet tools that can be used, such as manual, electric rivets, and pneumatic tools. All of the latter mentioned rivets have their specific uses and specifications. Besides the mentioned types, there are also special blind rivets that are used to connect two metal parts.

The use of a lever requires some manual effort on the user, so it tends to be problematic at times. The latter issue also restricts the connection of more than two parts. These rivets are manufactured for connecting lightweight objects
· Split Rivets
Split rivets are used for connecting soft materials, such as wood.
· Tight Rivets
Tight rivets are the correct option when you want to make an air-tight connection between two metallic parts.
· Expansion Rivets
Expansion rivets are used for objects that require high clamping force for connection. Therefore, they are resistant to stretching
· Drive Rivets
Drive rivets are placed on both sides of the drilled hole.
